Slip, Trip or Fall
Slip trip and fall accidents are one of the most common types of accidents. A simple slip can cause very serious injuries such as back injuries, broken bones, paralysis, and head injuries. Many slips and trips occur in the working environment due to poor health and safety regulations.
Accident on Roads, Footpaths, Pavements
Accident may occur due to Slipping, Tripping or Falling due to Uneven Floors, Pavements, Potholes, Steps or Ramps. The owners or occupiers of these premises must keep them in a safe condition. Where the accident occurs in public areas the responsibility normally lies with the Local Authority.
Accident on Commercial & Public Premises
These accidents occur in supermarkets, restaurants, shops and offices. Accidents may be caused due to slippery floors, spillage, worn out floor coverings, obstructions etc. The owners or occupiers of these premises have a duty to keep their premises in a safe condition. If they are negligent in keeping them safe they may be liable for a claim against them. Local Authorities are responsible for Playgrounds and Local Authority Sport Centres. The most common incident is slipping on Wet Surfaces in these premises. A claim is normally lodged against the Local Authorities in case of an injury.
Many industrial accidents result from slips, trips or falls including falls from height. Causes can be due to defective floor surfaces, trailing cables, obstructions and unsafe working practices. Employers are governed by a Statute to maintain a safe environment and may be liable to compensation to injured employees.
